Think about what we read in class today in Antigone and voice your opinion about why you think Antigone decided to take a stand against her uncle, King Creon, and support her dead brother, Polyneices.
I think Antigone voices out and takes a stand against her uncle because she feels very strongly about standing up for her brother Polyneices. She believes he should be treated the same as her other brother which is something we would do today. It was strange for her to take a stand because her uncle was the king and you never disobey a kings direct order. Antigone has much more nerve than anyone else in that time period. Most people would be afraid to stand up to the king, but she believes in what she does and she doesn't care about what her punishment will be.

I agree with Dominique in that Antigone is being the outcast and disobeying the king. Nobody in that time period would ever think of doing such a thing, especially a woman.
ReplyDeleteI agree and love how you talked about our time period verses their time period when girls were not well respected.
ReplyDeleteDom: Nicely done with your observations.
